Kiese Laymon is a fearless literary voice of the black experience in America. An acclaimed memoirist and novelist with a sharp humor and clear-eyed perceptiveness, Laymon has been compared to Mark Twain, Alice Walker, and Ta-Nehisi Coates.

One of Laymon’s essays is featured in Tales of Two Americas, this year’s KU Common Book. He’ll discuss that essay, his other work, and issues at the heart of both during this free lecture. Books will be available to be purchased and signed following the event.
