At this event, you will explore and question hegemonic masculinity, “the collective socialization of men,” “the traditional masculine script,” “the man box,” and the concept of “toxic masculinity”; consider the relationship between intersectionality and masculinities; explore the differences between patriarchy and feminism as well as between patriarchal masculinity and feminist masculinity. We also share strategies for those seeking to practice and/or nurture feminist masculinities in their everyday lives.
The Emily Taylor Center for Women and Gender Equity promotes the redefinition of hegemonic masculinity through our Quick & Dirty: Masculinities 101 presentations (offered by request); our online community MASCULINITIES 101, our Masculinities Month events throughout November, and our “Boys Do Cry” mini zine.
