Open Textbooks and How They Support Teaching and Learning

October 19, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Free

Offered Friday, October 19, 9:30 – 11:00 (Section A), and Tuesday, October 23, 9:30 – 11:00 (Section B) in Watson Library room 455

Open Educational Resources (OER) will save KU students over a million dollars in the next two years. KU Libraries has been partnered with the Open Textbook Network (OTN) to support this evolution in teaching materials since 2015. In this workshop, OTN presenter and KU Libraries’ Scholarly Communication Librarian Josh Bolick will introduce OER and open textbooks as an affordable and pedagogically viable option for instructors interested in increasing learning by ensuring that ALL students have immediate access to required course materials. All interested KU students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. A limited number of stipends are available to KU teaching faculty who attend the workshop and write a review of an open textbook in the Open Textbook Library; please indicate interest in the stipend in the registration form and we will be in touch with details.

For more information contact Josh Bolick, Scholarly Communication Librarian, at jbolick@ku.edu. Light refreshments will be provided.
